Philadelphia’s punk rock outfit newest record, Patience, their first for Epitaph Records (third of their career) is an unflinching account of pain, heartbreak and the inner turmoil that follows the sudden severing of a relationship. Musically the band pulls no punches with a blend of nu-metal and 90s nostalgia influenced industrial. The nearly flawless Metawar will please current fans, and likely bring in new as well. Social media, facial recognition technology, privacy, identity politics: it’s all here and nothing is safe from frontman Alexis Mincolla’s critical eye. On their third major release, Metawar, Los Angeles industrial outfit 3teeth uncover all the sins that America has to offer. The album is a tad long, but fans probably won’t mind that so much. From the guttural grinding of guitars to the blends of singing and screaming to the mix of hectic and somber atmospheres. We Are Not Your Kind encompasses all that has been and is Slipknot. Years Of Aggression continues the thrash assault and on hearing the new tracks a few times over now, the general feeling is that this is right up there with some of the best work they have done thus far.Ģ0 years since their self-titled debut, Slipknot stick to their formula. Continuing their obvious nods towards classic acts like Exodus, and Slayer but with enough of themselves, Suicidal Angels are a solid and dependable act. Greek thrashers Suicidal Angels return with another batch of anthems on their seventh album, Years of Aggression. But can you call it a throwback, when they were there in the beginning? They initally split in 1994, reunited 2008-2011 but that short run ended with the death of bassist Frankie Sparcello. New Orleans’ Exhorder is back after a very long hiatus with their long overdue third album, Mourn The Southern Skies. The band’s current four-piece core-Frontman Konietzko, Vocalist Lucia Cifarelli, Guitarist Andee Blacksugar (of Black Sugar Transmission), and Drummer Andy Selway-craft an 11-song, self-produced collection right in line with their previous 35 years of counterculture and nihilism. Paradise the most recent entry proves once again there are no musical boundaries when you are KMFDM-and for their epic 21st album, KMFDM refuse to simply rest on their laurels. Their fanbase should be happy these songs fit nicely in their existing back catalog, but it’s unlikely they will win over many new fans with the approach.Īrguably one of the most prolific artists of our time, the German Industrial group have produced twenty-one full-length studio albums. Given their spotty “reunion” gigs over the past three years, I suspect they’re testing the waters for a new album to fuel themselves and long term fans -this is a five song EP with only three new tracks and two remixes. It’s a trip down nostalgia lane, for those old enough to remember them. That said the music hasn’t progressed in any notable way.
